To mark the launch of the 2027 membership campaign, John Lopez, President of the Club Laser et Procédés (CLP), shares his vision for the network and reflects on what has made the CLP unique for more than 40 years.
“One question I am often asked is why someone should join the Club Laser et Procédés. My answer is always the same: because a network is only as strong as the people who bring it to life.
Since its creation in 1985, the CLP has brought together stakeholders from across the industrial laser technologies and processes sector, united by a common ambition: to drive the industry forward. This mission has remained unchanged, even as the world around us has evolved considerably.
Today, companies need to innovate faster, increase their visibility, identify new partners and meet the demands of increasingly challenging markets. In this environment, being part of a trusted network has become a real advantage.
At the CLP, we have made a choice that reflects who we are: to remain an independent association, built by its members, for its members.
Everything we do is shaped collectively. Our Board of Directors brings together a wide range of profiles – manufacturers, technical centres, research laboratories and equipment suppliers – ensuring that every decision reflects the realities on the ground and the expectations of the entire industry.
Above all, our role is to create opportunities.
Connect people and expertise.

This collective spirit is what makes the CLP strong.
We also firmly believe that a professional association should shine a spotlight on its members, not just on its own activities. Every news article, interview, conference and event is an opportunity to highlight the companies, laboratories and people who make up our network.
Representing our industry is another key priority. The stronger our community becomes, the better positioned we are to make the industry's voice heard by institutions, national and international partners, major industrial players and public authorities.
But beyond the figures, events and partnerships, what makes me most proud is the spirit of the Club.
Seeing companies that may sometimes be competitors come together to exchange ideas, share experiences, develop joint projects or simply take the time to talk during a company visit or at PLI Conférences perfectly illustrates what we have been building for more than forty years.
The CLP is a network where trust often comes before collaboration.
When you join the Club, you become more than just a member of an association.
You become part of a collective effort that contributes every day to raising the profile of industrial laser technologies and processes.
