Through the series “The CLP and Its Premium Members”, the Club Laser et Procédés (CLP) highlights major players in the laser industry whose expertise, innovation, and commitment actively contribute to structuring and advancing the industrial laser ecosystem.
Today, the spotlight is on TRUMPF, a global leader in advanced manufacturing technologies and a key reference in industrial laser systems. Bogumila Skiba, Commercial Director at TRUMPF, shares her vision of industrial laser technology, discusses major technological innovations—particularly in welding for e-mobility—and explains the strategic value of TRUMPF’s Premium membership within the CLP.
Can you introduce your company and its core expertise?
“TRUMPF is a global leader in advanced manufacturing technologies, with particularly strong expertise in industrial laser systems. We design and manufacture a wide range of solid-state, fiber and CO₂ lasers, as well as complete machine-tool integration and automation solutions for applications such as cutting, welding and surface processing. Our ambition is to deliver laser solutions that increase productivity, improve production quality and reduce the total cost of ownership for our industrial customers.”
What recent innovations or achievements are you most proud of?
“We are starting 2026 by strengthening our laser welding portfolio for e-mobility, with a very clearly segmented product offering:
- New green laser TruDisk 3021 (3 kW) dedicated to copper welding: higher power density, penetration depth greater than 2 mm, and enhanced process stability thanks to an integrated beam shaping solution.
- TruFiber P BrightLine Mode (3 to 6 kW) for aluminum, copper and other metals: an innovative 2-in-1 fiber enabling clean, low-power welding without spatter, ideal for busbars and battery modules.
The result: welding speeds of up to 30 m/min, representing a 20% increase in productivity, while pushing the limits of process stability on thin materials.”
How long have you been a member of the Club Laser et Procédés and what does this membership bring you?
“We have been members of the CLP for several years. This membership provides us with:
- Privileged access to a network of experts and decision-makers in the fields of laser technology, optics and photonic systems,
- Increased visibility at industry events and opportunities for collaboration with research centers and innovative industrial partners,
- Direct exchanges on technological trends and current market challenges.
For TRUMPF, the CLP is not only a platform for exchange, but also a place for strategic monitoring and inspiration.”
Why did you choose Premium membership and what benefits do you gain from it?
“Premium membership was a natural choice, as it allows us to:
- Be more actively involved in the laser and photonics ecosystem (workshops, round tables, conferences),
- Showcase our solutions and feedback to a targeted audience of industrial and academic decision-makers,
- Benefit from privileged support for collaborative projects and structuring initiatives within the sector.
This status strengthens our role as a committed industrial partner and helps us generate synergies with other members around innovative topics such as intelligent optimization of laser processes and metal additive manufacturing.”
In your view, what innovations or trends are shaping the future of the laser sector?
“Over the coming years, several trends will transform the industry:
- More compact and efficient high-power lasers, enabling significant productivity gains,
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to laser process control to anticipate defects, optimize parameters in real time and reduce downtime,
- Connectivity and digital twins integrated at the core of robotic laser cells for predictive maintenance and flexible production,
- More sustainable solutions, with improved energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions,
- Emerging applications, particularly in electronics, batteries and advanced materials, where laser technology plays a key role in product innovation.
These trends reflect a shift toward laser systems that are smarter, more integrated and greener, fully aligned with the needs of modern manufacturing industries.”
Through this testimony, TRUMPF fully illustrates the role of Premium members of the Club Laser et Procédés: leading industrial players, drivers of innovation, and committed contributors to the collective development of the laser and photonics sector.
By actively supporting the CLP’s initiatives and sharing its technological expertise, TRUMPF contributes to the visibility of industrial laser technologies and to the structuring of a high-performance, collaborative and future-oriented ecosystem.
