IREIS – Institute for Surface Engineering Research – is the R&D subsidiary of the HEF Group, a leading industrial player in surface treatment (3,200 employees / €330M / present in over 20 countries).

IREIS studies and enhances the surface properties of materials, from laboratory research to the development of industrial-scale solutions.

The expertise of IREIS’ R&D engineers and researchers covers the following areas:
1. Functional coatings in thin films deposited via PVD and PECVD
2. Tribology: simulation, analysis of wear mechanisms, development and industrial measurements

IREIS’ research activities focus notably on mobility, hydrogen technologies, energy efficiency, advanced manufacturing processes, and the development of new surface functionalities. IREIS is regularly involved in collaborative French and European projects.

- Studies and analyses based on a deep understanding of laser–material interactions, particularly in pulsed regimes
