PLI Conferences 2025 & ICUBE: A Word from a Co-Organizer

The PLI Conferences 2025 will take place on September 24 and 25 at the CCI Campus Alsace in Strasbourg. This major event dedicated to industrial laser processes brings together experts, researchers, industry professionals, and users each year to explore the latest technological innovations.

Organized by the CLUB LASER ET PROCÉDÉS, this large-scale event is co-constructed with several key partners, including ICUBE, IPG PHOTONICS, IREPA LASER, PRECITEC, and the INSTITUT PHOTONIQUE.

In this article, we invite you to meet the people who bring this event to life. Today, let’s head to the ICUBE laboratory with an interview of Sylvain Lecler, team leader and professor.

Can you briefly introduce your organization?
The ICube laboratory brings together engineering, imaging, and computer sciences in Strasbourg. Innovative laser processes are studied within the IPP team by researchers from the University of Strasbourg, CNRS, and INSA Strasbourg.

What motivated you to get involved in co-organizing this event?
We participate every year and value the high quality of the PLI Conferences. Getting involved in organizing it in Strasbourg felt like a natural step.

In your opinion, what makes the PLI Conferences unique among industrial events?
It’s a two-day conference that offers a very comprehensive representation of the industrial players in the field of laser processes, along with a very high quality of invited speakers. Additionally, it's a human-scale event where strong connections are built, often leading to collaborative projects.

How do you see the evolving role of conferences like PLI in spreading laser innovations?
The PLI Conferences, organized by the Club Laser et Procédés, play a demanding yet essential role — one they fulfill brilliantly — by continuously renewing their speakers and identifying emerging technologies to be promoted and challenged. This event also strengthens a community of interest at the European level, to which international guests contribute significantly.

Do you have a memorable moment or anecdote from past editions you'd like to share?
The beauty of the Rennes stadium where we were in 2023 — a surreal setting for a technology conference! Also, the grape blending lesson in Bordeaux in 2014, and so many remarkable scientific results.

A final word to encourage professionals to join this year’s edition?
A great state-of-the-art showcase of the latest developments in the field, with excellent tours. A unique networking opportunity, enabling rich exchanges with industrial players and the identification of promising collaborations — all within just two days!

You too can take part in this unique dynamic. Come meet the sector's leaders, discover the latest advances, and connect at the heart of a vibrant ecosystem.

See you on September 24 and 25, 2025, in Strasbourg for two days full of insights, meetings, and forward-looking opportunities!
