Beyond technologies, the Club Laser & Procédés highlights the women and men who drive laser innovation forward every day. Through the series “The CLP and Its Premium Members”, we meet those whose expertise, vision and collective commitment help structure and energize the French laser industry.
Today, the spotlight is on IREPA LASER, a leading technological resource center dedicated to laser processes for industrial applications. From R&D to production, including training, the organization supports manufacturers in deploying high-performance, safe and sustainable solutions.
Its President, Vincent Pesquet, shares his vision of IREPA LASER’s strategic role, reflects on high-impact R&D projects, and explains why Premium membership within the CLP naturally aligns with a strong commitment to actively contributing to the laser ecosystem.
Could you introduce your organization and its core expertise?
“IREPA LASER is a technological resource center specializing in laser processes applied to industry. Our mission is clear: to develop, secure and deploy innovative manufacturing solutions that help industrial companies improve performance, competitiveness and sustainability.
We support companies from R&D through to production, integrating training into our services with a comprehensive and pragmatic approach. Our expertise covers laser welding, additive manufacturing, laser ablation and process safety.
Safety, quality and performance are at the heart of our DNA. This is reflected in our ISO 9001 certification, maintained for over 20 years, and in our QUALIOPI-certified training programs delivered by CoNSOL-accredited instructors.
IREPA LASER is driven by a strong commitment to making laser technologies accessible and operational for industry.”
Which recent innovations or achievements are you most proud of?
“One of our most significant recent achievements is an R&D project dedicated to laser drilling of composite materials. By first optimizing the single point drilling cycle and then developing an innovative multi-point concept, we succeeded in increasing the ablation speed by a factor of 44.
This technological breakthrough represents a major productivity gain, allowing us to approach the industrial throughput expected by our customers and opening new opportunities for the industrialization of laser drilling in composite materials.”
How long have you been a member of the Club Laser & Procédés, and what does this membership bring you?
“We have been members of the CLP since its creation and actively support its initiatives aimed at developing and promoting laser technologies.
Above all, this membership provides a privileged platform for exchange with the entire laser ecosystem—industrial players, researchers and experts—allowing us to compare practices, strengthen our technology watch and stimulate innovation.
The CLP is also a powerful lever for visibility and for showcasing our expertise, thanks to its events and communication tools, both in France and internationally.
Being a CLP member means actively contributing to a collective dynamic that advances the entire laser industry.”
Why did you choose Premium membership, and what benefits do you gain from it?
“Choosing Premium membership was a natural decision, given the strong alignment between our purpose and the CLP’s missions. This status reflects our desire to be fully engaged within the laser community, actively contributing to its collective development and international visibility.
It also represents a real lever for growth and influence, enabling us to strengthen partnerships, support the structuring of the industry, and play a concrete role in shaping the evolution of the laser ecosystem.”
In your opinion, what are the upcoming innovations or trends in the laser sector?
“In our view, the major upcoming trends in the laser sector will profoundly transform industrial processes:
- Intelligent beams: adaptable beam profiles and dynamic energy control, with disruptive technologies opening new manufacturing possibilities.
- AI and closed-loop control: increasingly powerful sensors and advanced algorithms enabling real-time process adjustment, moving toward zero-defect manufacturing.
- Optimized laser sources: compact and efficient architectures, high-power diodes, and new wavelengths to improve absorption and reduce energy consumption.
- Advanced materials: high-entropy alloys, functional gradients, and micro-/nano-textures to push the boundaries of surface functionalization.
In summary: intelligent beams, optimized sources and self-piloted processes—a convergence that will redefine the performance of industrial laser technologies.”
Through the words of Vincent Pesquet, IREPA LASER embodies a strong conviction: the future of industrial laser technology will rely on intelligent, controlled processes closely aligned with the challenges of performance, quality and sustainability. Intelligent beams, closed-loop control, optimized sources and new materials are shaping a future in which laser technology becomes an increasingly strategic manufacturing tool.
By combining technological excellence, applied R&D and collective engagement, IREPA LASER demonstrates how CLP Premium membership can become a powerful lever for influence, collaboration and industry structuring.
Because progress is built together, the Club Laser & Procédés invites committed and forward-thinking organizations to join this network of excellence and actively contribute to the international visibility of the French laser industry.
