TRUMPF modernizes machine frame production workshops and painting facilities at the Haguenau site and strengthens sustainability through photovoltaic energy and heat recovery.
TRUMPF is inaugurating the modernization of its Haguenau site. The objective is to comprehensively modernize the site's existing production capacity. This will strengthen both quality and competitiveness in order to secure the site’s long-term future.
“With the modernization that has just begun, we are making targeted investments in the future viability of our Haguenau site, while preserving resources and focusing on competitiveness and quality assurance,” explains Till Küppers, Managing Director of Production at TRUMPF Machine Tools.
“The modernization of the plant secures jobs, improves infrastructure for the teams on site, and sends a clear signal not only in favor of the competitiveness of European production sites, but also in favor of active sustainability. We want to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, which we will achieve through the planned photovoltaic installations and heat recovery systems. I am particularly pleased for our employees that the modernization of the plant coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Haguenau site,” adds Tomas Wolf, Site Director in Haguenau.
The modernization will expand the production area by approximately 6,100 m² to reach 27,800 m² — equivalent to nearly four football fields.
The work includes:
- Relocating parking areas to create space for construction and optimize internal logistics.
- Building a new production hall and modernizing the paint shop to optimize production processes and ensure the demanding quality standards of manufacturing. This also includes relocating the machine frame shipping area.
- Installing a photovoltaic system on suitable buildings and parking areas to reduce the carbon footprint and promote energy-efficient production.
Project timeline
- Start: February 2026 (construction work will take place in phases)
- First phase: relocation of the parking area
- Subsequent phases: construction of a production hall to modernize the paint shop, commissioning of photovoltaic installations
About the TRUMPF site in Haguenau (France):
As part of the relocation of certain production sectors from the parent plant in Ditzingen (Germany), the plant was founded in 1985 with 11 employees at the time. Today, more than 110 people work in Haguenau. Within the TRUMPF Group, the Haguenau plant specializes in manufacturing the frames for all punching and laser machines. After complex welding processes, the frames are painted and then machined on ten state-of-the-art machining centers. At the TRUMPF Group’s assembly plants in Hettingen, Ditzingen, and Grüsch (Switzerland), they are then assembled into machine tools for punching and laser processing.
The last expansion of the Haguenau plant took place in 2012. At that time, the production area increased by nearly 7,000 m² to reach a total surface area of 21,700 m². The modernization that has just begun will expand the production area by approximately 6,100 m² to reach a total of 27,800 m² — equivalent to nearly four football fields.
